Blues extended their unbeaten run to four games with a hard-earned point at Hillsborough.
A point was probably a fair reflection of the game as a whole, with neither side doing enough to claim all three points.
But it was the hosts who had the better of the play in the opening half-hour and perhaps should have gone ahead through Jacques Maghoma, the winger skipped into the Blues box only to be denied by a brilliant Darren Randolph save.
The visitors grew into the contest as the half wore on and on the stroke of half-time had an excellent opportunity to open the scoring. Jonathan Ground fizzed a ball across the face of goal but Joe Mattock's last-ditch tackle denied Clayton Donaldson an easy finish.
Blues continued their momentum after the break, David Cotterill put a couple of teasing balls into the box but neither Donaldson or Demarai Gray could apply the finishing touch.
As Blues did in the first, the Owls began to threaten as the second-half went on and went close to grabbing a goal through Atdhe Nuhiu who squandered a number of good chances.
Both sides struggled to force home a winner in the dying stages and had to settle for a point a piece.
