The Reaction: Forest Green Rovers 0 Blues 1

Posted: Wed 16 Jul 2014

Lee Clark reacts to his side's narrow victory in their friendly fixture against Forest Green Rovers.

Clark's overall assessment of his side's display...
"It was another decent workout and a tough game. There were some good parts to our game and some not so good but we're only two and a half weeks in. We’ve had quite a tough week in terms of double sessions. When we slowed the game down we were a bit pedestrian but maybe that's the fatigue setting in. We did play with too much of a slow tempo at times but when we did speed it up we looked a good team. There are some things we need to brush up on and we will."

Clark on individual player performances...
"There were lots of good things to come out of the game and some impressive performances. Clayton Donaldson and Wes Thomas showed they'll be a threat getting in behind. Strikers that are willing to do that always cause problems. Young Reece Brown was excellent and Demarai Gray was very positive. Charlee Adams did really well, young Koby (Arthur) was good, so the youngsters are staking their claim and I'm happy with that."

Clark on the intensity of the game...
"The intensity was a step up from Cork. They (Forest Green) will be right in the mix next season in the Conference. They a well backed club with a good management team and they seem to have a good group of players. We come up against a League Two team (Mansfield Town) on Saturday, so that will be another step up and we're looking forward to it. Hopefully we will continue to progress."
