Lee Clark is hopeful that long-term injury absentees Will Packwood and David Murphy will soon be back in full training.

American youth international Packwood has been sidelined since January after suffering a serious broken leg against Leeds United in an FA Cup third round tie.

Full-back Murphy has been missing since last November after he damaged his knee.

"Will and David are still in rehabilitation with the physios but they’re doing extremely well and they’ve nearly completed that," confirmed Clark. "That could be finished in a couple of weeks.

"Probably our trip to Dublin (when Blues play Shamrock Rovers in a friendly on 8 July) will come too early for them. We’re hoping that once we get back from that trip they’ll be ready to train with the group which might put them a little bit short of being ready for the first game of the season.

"But with those two lads because of the seriousness of the injuries it’s just getting them back safe and sound rather than getting them back as quickly as possible. The last thing I want to do is see them suffer a breakdown in terms of the injuries, so if it means they miss the first couple of games but they’re right for the rest of the season, that’s fine."
