Several members of the Blues Ladies squad were flying the flag on the international scene on Monday.

Laura Bassett and Karen Carney, as a 17th minute substitute, were both involved in England's 1-1 draw with Russia in Linkoping, Sweden.

An injury-time Toni Duggan equaliser handed the Three Lions a Euro 2013 lifeline following a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Spain last Friday. Hope Powell's side now need victory over France to hand themselves a realistic chance of progressing through to the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile the Blues Ladies trio of Kerys Harrop (Loughborough College),  Izzy Christiansen (University of Birmingham) and Mary Earps (Loughborough University) all had reason to cheer as members of the Great Britain side that clinched gold with a 6-2 victory over Mexico at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.
