Remembering Chucho

Tributes have been flooding in following the sad news of the passing of former Blues striker Christian 'Chucho' Benitez.

Blues fans, staff and Chucho's former teammates alike have expressed their condolences and here is a selection of those comments:

"Christian Benitez was clearly a very popular character during his time at St. Andrew's and everybody associated with this football club is deeply saddened to learn of his tragic passing at the age of just 27. I know that our great supporters will join the club's staff and players in giving Chucho a touching send off this Saturday and hopefully the team can pay him the ultimate tribute by starting the new season with victory. It goes without saying that any achievement this weekend will be dedicated to  the great man himself. RIP Chucho." - Peter Pannu, Birmingham City's acting chairman
