Blues duo Shane Ferguson and Callum Reilly both played 90 minutes as their respective nations enjoyed success.

Ferguson's Northern Ireland emerged 1-0 victors from their rearranged 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Russia in Belfast.

Meanwhile Reilly, making his first competitive appearance on the international stage, played the duration of the Republic of Ireland U21s' 4-1 victory over the Faroe Islands U21s during the UEFA U21 European Championship qualifier in Toftir.

Elsewhere winger Chris Burke was an unused Scotland substitute during their 3-2 loss to England at Wembley while goalkeeper Darren Randolph remained on the bench for the Republic of Ireland's goalless draw with Wales in Cardiff.
