Blues defender Will Packwood continued his remarkable recovery from a broken leg by returning to competitive action.

The 20-year-old American suffered a horrendous leg break during an FA Cup tie against Leeds United back in January but, less than eight months, later Packwood was back on the field as Richard Beale's development side took on their Barnsley counterparts at Oakwell Academy.

However there wasn't any further reason to cheer for Packwood, who was replaced by Jean Kalenda at the break, as Blues suffered a 4-1 defeat to the Tykes.

A John Cofie brace and Ryan Tunnicliffe strike saw Barnsley race into a 3-0 lead in the first-half. Trialist Adda Djeziri pullled on back for Blues in the 81st minute but Danny Rose completed the damage two minutes before the end.
