Blues U18s recorded a comfortable 3-0 away win at Nottingham Forest.
Liam Truslove fired Blues into a third minute lead, before Bobby Moseley doubled their advantage after 28 minutes and George McGee then made it 3-0 just after the half-hour mark.
Forest struck back with a goal of their own immediately before the break, but Blues maintained their advantage and left the East Midlands with a deserved victory.
Academy coach Steve Spooner was pleased with many aspects of his sides’ performance, although slightly disappointed not to have kept a clean sheet.
“All of the players did their jobs and everybody did well,” said Spooner.
“In the first half I was very pleased with the standard of football, but also the commitment, workrate and organisation out of possession.
“We started quickly and were 3-0 up in just over half-an-hour. We switched off for one moment a couple of minutes before half-time and conceded a goal, which was very disappointing.
“In the second half the challenge was not to concede again and we didn’t because we defended tightly and were resolute and determined.”
