The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is currently one of the brightest stars in the Red Devils’ youth ranks having caught the headlines during the Barclays Premier League champions’ 2013 pre-season tour with a healthy goal tally.
The Warrington-born star scored the first goal of the David Moyes era against the A-League All Stars in Sydney and went on to earn his first England U21s cap during the 6-0 victory over Scotland U21s last month.
Versatile Lingard, who can play on either flank or in a central role, has been one of United’s stand-out performers at U21s level having lifted the FA Youth Cup in 2011.
The former England U17 international made the bench for United in the League Cup last season and spent two months on loan at Leicester City.
Lingard’s stay at St. Andrew’s will take him up to and including Sunday 20 October inclusive of the Sky Bet Championship trip to Leeds United and he has been allocated squad number nine.
