Blues U18s put in an accomplished performance to beat their Derby counterparts at Wast Hills.
The hosts took a 15-minute lead through a trialist player, before the visitors levelled the scores courtesy of Darryl Carrigy.
But with just over an hour played George O’Neill (pictured) fired home a poacher’s goal from inside the box to seal the win for his team.
“It was a very good performance and in the first half we played some super football,” said Blues Academy coach Steve Spooner.
“I was really pleased that the players had taken on board what we’d been doing in our technical work.
“We were sharper and looked like we were playing with a purpose, although if our finishing as a group had been better the margin of the victory could have been greater.
“Having said that the application and effort was there and we were worthy winners.”
