Blues U21s picked up an away point at Crewe Alexandra on Monday evening with a 1-1 draw.
The Railwaymen took a 60th minute lead through Callum Saunders, but Blues hit back 15 minutes later via a superbly taken free-kick from Demarai Gray (pictured).
Both sides created a number other chances to win the game, but were wasteful in front of goal.
Blues development squad boss Richard Beale felt a point was probably fair on both sides.
"We had more chances and slightly more possession but a draw was a fair result," he said.
"If both teams hadn't been so wasteful in front of goal it could have asily ended up at 4-4.
"We still need to defend better at times, but I was pleased with the work ethic shown by a young side."
Individually, Beale felt that Demarai Gray was the standout performer in his side.
"Demarai Gray had an excellent game and showed some really good bits of quality and the potential to be a first team player in the future," added Beale.
"Will Packwood also continues to show he's fully fit and over his injury problems and Nick Townsend in goal was excellent."
