Blues U18s put in an assured display to record a 2-1 away win at Swansea.
All three goals came in the second period of the game.
Viv Solomon fired Blues into a 47th minute lead, before the hosts levelled the scores.
But with 20 minutes of the game remaining, a goal from a Blues trialist sealed the victory.
Academy coach Steve Spooner felt his side were well worth the win in South Wales.
“I was absolutely delighted with the players’ application,” he said. “Their passing was very good, but so was their work ethic and the way they pressed people and made it hard for the opposition.
“From a team point of view we defended very well and were well-organised and it shows they’re taking on board what we’re asking of them in training.
“We started to get a bit tired in the last 20 minutes and because of that our decision-making went a little bit and we started taking too many touches on the ball and got caught which brought on a little pressure, but we held on for a deserved win.”
