Blues U21s comfortably progressed to the third round of the Birmingham Senior Cup with this victory in Wolverhampton.

A goal in either half from Charlee Adams (pictured) and Liam Truslove was enough for Richard Beale's side to see off their dogged opponents from the Midland Alliance.

The visitors dominated this fixture on a bitterly-cold evening at the Castlecroft Stadium and could have easily chalked up a bigger scoreline.

Adams had the first clear cut chance in the eighth minute of the match having seen his vicious low drive from 25 yards turned wide of the post by Wulfrunians' goalkeeper Sam Pearson.

In the 24th minute, Koby Arthur sent a cross fizzing across the hosts' goal only for it to be too high for his arriving teammate, Viv Solomon-Otabor, to get a clean connection at the far post.

After continuous pressure, Blues found a way through in the 35th minute. Truslove's left-sided corner caused panic in the Wulfrunians box and Adams was there to stab home from yards out.

Within a matter of minutes, it should have been 2-0; Solomon-Otabor laying the ball back for Truslove only to see the forward's effort bravely blocked.

Truslove again came close minutes before the interval as his 25-yard free-kick dipped a tad too late to trouble Pearson.

Blues continued where they left off after the break and Truslove finally got his goal in the 57th minute. Bobby Moseley's excellent cross from the left picked out the head of Truslove from eight yards out and he made no mistake.

Left-back Moseley could have got his name on the scoresheet in the 66th minute but saw his shot, from Solomon-Otabor's pass back, blocked in the six-yard box. From that chance, the ball was worked to Ryan Higgins on the right-side of the home side's box and his low drive skimmed inches wide of the left post.

Truslove could have capped a fine display with a second goal minutes from the end by brilliantly skipping past his marker to make space on the edge of the box but his eventual effort was just narrow of the mark.
