Blues U18’s ran their Huddersfield counterparts close, but were unable to put an end to the Yorkshire side’s unbeaten run.

The visitors, who have won ten of their 11 matches this season, took the lead just after the hour mark direct from a free-kick, before doubling their advantage minutes late.

Substitute Corey O’Keefe scored what proved to be a consolation for Blues in stoppage time at the end of the match.

“Huddersfield have not been beaten this season and they’ve won every game apart from one which they drew, so we knew it was going to be a tough game,” said Blues academy coach Steve Spooner (pictured).

“We gave them a good game and I was really pleased with our boys. We made a couple of bad decisions for the goals, but we’re still learning.

“With the game at 0-0 after 55 minutes we had two great chances back-to-back, which we didn’t take advantage of and that changed the course of game.

“Although we lost we were competitive and passed the ball well. The attitude and work ethic was fantastic and the players gave their all.”
