Development squad boss Richard Beale was delighted with his side’s fight-back against Sheffield Wednesday.

Beale saw them come from behind to beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 at Wast Hills on Monday afternoon.

It was a sixth straight win for Blues U21s in league and cup contests.

Providing some experience in the Blues starting line-up was Peter Lovenkrands, Darren Ambrose and Scott Allan.

Blues’ goals came courtesy of Lovenkrands who hit a brace and Liam Truslove, who scored his sixth goal in six games.
“We didn’t start that well and to go 1-0 down early on was disappointing,” admitted Beale.

“But the lads got themselves going and showed good character to come back and in the end it was comfortable 3-1 victory and we should have won by a few more goals.

“That said, Sheffield were always a threat on the break and the counter-attack and we were a little open at times, so it was certainly an entertaining game.”

Beale continued: “What you ask in these games is that the senior players apply themselves in the right way and they all did that. The three of them all had a good game.

“Also, Charlee Adams was excellent at centre-back alongside Nat Kelly and Liam Truslove put in another good performance and scored again.”
