The 20-year-old Academy graduate signed a new one-year deal
(with a one-year option) with Blues last week.
The Dutch-born youngster missed a large chunk of last season with a hamstring injury.
To date he has made just a single substitute appearance for Blues, which came against CD Nacional in the UEFA Europa League in August 2011, but Clark thinks he has the attributes to push on.
"We feel that Akwasi has a natural talent there in terms of how powerful and quick he is," said Clark.
"We need to try and get him to score more goals and be a bit more ruthless and get in the danger zone more often. But we’ll work with him and we certainly believe the basic tools for playing as a striker are there.
"He’s got assets that we haven’t got in the striking department at the moment so we’re ready for him to push on. What he needs is an injury-free season. Obviously he had a serious injury that kept him out for a long period and disrupted last season for him.
“We’ll have to make sure we keep on top of him and he has an injury-free pre-season to get him ready."
