Blues swoop for a second City slicker

Posted: Tue 28 Jan 2014

Blues have completed the loan signing of Wales U21 midfielder Emyr Huws from Manchester City.

The 20-year-old joins the club on an initial one-month youth loan, up to and including Saturday 1 March. Huws is the second youngster from the Etihad that Lee Clark has recruited during the January transfer window, following the addition of Albert Rusnak last week.

Huws, who hails from Llanelli, began his footballing career as a youngster with Swansea City, with whom he spent five years before being snapped up by City in 2009.

During his time with the Barclays Premier League club, he has captained City's U21 squad having spent a period out on loan with Sky Bet League Two side Northampton Town earlier last season, where he made ten appearances for the Cobblers.

He made his senior bow for his parent club earlier this month as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers in an FA Cup with Budweiser third-round replay victory.

Huws has been handed first-team squad number 36 and will come into contention for Saturday's visit of Derby County (3pm kick-off)
