Howard homes in

Posted: Tue 14 Jan 2014

Blues have signed former Reading and Portsmouth midfielder Brian Howard on a short-term deal until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.

The 30-year-old joins Blues as a free agent after recently leaving leading Bulgarian giants CSKA Sofia.

Howard had been with CSKA since last summer and made 11 league appearances for the A Group outfit.

A former England U20 international, Howard began his career as a youth player at Southampton before moves to Swindon Town,  Barnsley, Sheffield United, Reading, Portsmouth and Bristol City.

Howard has been assigned first-team squad number 10, replacing Darren Ambrose who has departed on loan to Greek Super League club Apollon Smyrni, and comes into contention for Saturday's Sky Bet Championship fixture at home to Yeovil Town (3pm kick-off).
