Wales host Iceland at the Cardiff City Stadium on 5 March.
Twenty-year-old Huws has represented Wales at up to U21 level, but has yet to win a senior cap.
He has been in impressive form since moving to St. Andrew's at the end of last month, and has put in no less than three man of the match performances in his five games.
Explaining his decision to include Huws, Wales boss Chris Coleman said: "He is a young player who deserves his chance. He has done very well through the ranks at Manchester City and now, recently, has really done well on loan at Birmingham City.
“With Aaron Ramsey still being unavailable, it is a good chance to have Emyr with us and show us what he can do in training."
