Striker George O’Neill (pictured) was the goal-getter for his side, as he scored once in either half.
His first arrived just before the break when he took on his marker before beating him and firing past the goalkeeper at the near post. His second was a well-taken effort from an acute angle after 71 minutes.
Academy coach Steve Spooner felt his team were good value for their victory against the Tykes.
“It was fair result on the chances we created and the possession we had,” said Spooner.
“We were solid defensively and took our chances when they arrived. When we were put under a little bit of pressure by Barnsley we did well to withstand them.
“Tactically we went into the game with a plan as to how we were going to stop the opposition and how we would nullify their strengths and we more or less carried that out to a tee.
“The pleasing thing was the clean sheet and the fact they adhered to instructions. We’re now hoping to finish the season as strong as possible.”
