Seven Birmingham City youngsters have had their immediate futures with the club confirmed.

Goalkeeper Nick Townsend and midfielder Charlee Adams have both had one-year contract options implemented.

The duo, who signed their first professional contracts in May 2013,  both recently enjoyed a productive loan spell in the Skrill Premier with Lincoln City.

Birmingham-born Townsend, an outstanding performer between the sticks for the Imps in recent weeks, was on the first-team bench in both the Capital One Cup and FA Cup with Budweiser earlier this season. Meanwhile Londoner Adams made his first-team debut as a late substitute during the 3-0 FA Cup with Budweiser victory over Bristol Rovers back in January.

Elsewhere defenders James Fry and Amari'i Bell have both been offered new terms.

Centre-half Fry, who briefly joined Skrill North side Leamington on loan in September, has had an injury-hit campaign but managed to gain game time for the U21s in recent weeks. Left-back Bell finished the season on loan with Kidderminster Harriers in the Skrill Premier having made his first-team breakthrough during the 2-1 home defeat to Sky Bet Championship title-winners Leicester City in January.

Meanwhile strikers Akwasi Asante and Reece Hales and right-back Ryan Higgins have all been informed that they will be released once their current deals expire at the end of this current season.

Asante made one first-team appearance as a late substitute during the 3-0 UEFA Europa League play-off second-leg victory over C.D. Nacional at St. Andrew's in August 2011. Similarly Hales made a brief senior appearance as a late substitute during the 1-1 FA Cup with Budweiser third-round draw with Leeds United at Elland Road in January 2013.

Right-back Higgins never managed a first-team breakthrough but was a regular for the U21s side and has spent the bulk of this season on-loan at Leamington.

The club wishes all three well for the next stage of their careers.
