Birmingham City Ladies maintained their unbeaten start to the domestic season with an opening victory in this season's FA WSL Continental Cup.

After dominating the opening half-an-hour, the visitors took a deserved lead through Katie Wilkinson (pictured) before Emily Westwood rattled home a cracker from 25 yards just before the interval at Sherborne Town.

The hosts clawed back a goal shortly after the interval with Laura Bray converting from the penalty spot but it turned out to be a mere consolation.

Coral Jade-Haines almost stretched the lead for Blues in the 64th minute but the Yeovil goalkeeper was equal to the effort.

Next up for Blues Ladies is the visit of Arsenal Ladies in the FA Women's Cup quarter-final at the Autotech Stadium this Sunday (12pm kick-off). Ticket details can be found here.
