Blues in Ireland - day one

The Blues squad have landed in the Republic of Ireland but the hard work hasn't started just yet.

Lee Clark's 24-man squad arrived at Cork Airport around 10am on Sunday morning after an early start at Birmingham Airport hours earlier.

With club photographer Roy Smiljanic on hand to capture the journey (see above), the players soon arrived at their Fota Island Resort base.

However, having spent the last six days going through the rigours of pre-season training at Wast Hills, Sunday was earmarked as a rest day.

So after a spot of lunch, the squad broke off to enjoy their own recreational activities with the bulk taking to the impressive golf course on site. The rest took time to chill out around the hotel with table tennis keeping some players entertained (Mark Duffy rumoured to be the man to beat when it comes to ping pong).

For David Cotterill, it was his first chance to meet the faithful army of Bluenoses, well virtually at least. The Wales international logged on to the Blues Wall for the first in a series of webchats from inside the club's training base. You can replay the Q&A session HERE

The hard work will most certainly begin tomorrow - with a double session on the horizon - and Clark is looking forward to the six days ahead. You can read the Blues boss' thoughts on the week ahead HERE
