Blues in Ireland - day four

With the after effects of the squad's first pre-season game still in their legs, there was a laid back approach to day four.

It started with a bike ride in the Cork sunshine around the picturesque grounds of the Fota Island Resort with backroom staff joining the players for the route set by sports scientist Tom Page.

Prior to that, Paul Robinson turned interviewer again having sat down with Mark Duffy on Monday. This time it was the turn of new recruit Grant Hall to face Robbo's randomly selected questions and you'll be able to find the full interview on the club's official YouTube channel.

Pre-season isn't just about working on those fitness levels as squad bonding is equally important and the afternoon on day four was all about the playing squad enjoying some down time with their teammates.

Bearing in mind that professional football squads are always brimming with keen golfers and that the Fota Island Resort recently hosted the European Tour's Irish Open, it was no surprise to see the majority grab their clubs and head off for a round of 18 holes.

For other, non-golf loving members of the squad, it was a chance to explore the city of Cork with a stroll around the shops and quaint side streets taking up the afternoon. There's even one Cork outlet that bears the name of a recent Blues signing (see the gallery above) but it's sure to be coincidence rather than a business on the side for the player in question.

After returning from the 3-0 victory over Cork City on Tuesday night, the Blues squad watched open mouthed as Germany tore Brazil apart in the FIFA World Cup semi-final and they will be hoping for a much even affair when the players sit down to watch Holland v Argentina.

And on one final note regarding Tuesday's game, it was great to see plenty of travelling Bluenoses submit their images from what looked to be an enjoyable trip to Cork for all involved. You can see them all HERE
