Blues in Ireland - day six

Friday was the Blues squad's final full day in Cork and that called for another double session.

The players headed down to the Fota Island training pitches for 11am and 3pm starts where high intensity, small-sided games were the order of the day.

From watching Lee Clark, Steve Watson and Richard Beale's training sessions over this past week, it's clear that intensity is the buzz word heading into the new season and the team will be looking to approach the 2014/15 campaign with a high pressing game.

The last few days have been particularly energy-sapping for the squad with humidity levels high in this part of the Republic of Ireland.

Full focus has naturally been on the nine new recruits over the last six days and that continued after the double session with the traditional initiation songs taking place in 'The Cove' area of Fota Island's restaurant facility.

It's yet to be seen what the new boys opted for but Grant Hall had already made it clear that The Zutons hit 'Valerie' was his song choice, while the laid back Clayton Donaldson was deciding between a Bob Marley or UB40 number. Both these snippets of information came out during BluesTV's 'Robbo meets..' feature and the latest, with Donaldson, came be found HERE.
