Clayton Donaldson scored on his St. Andrew's debut to help Blues overcome a tricky Capital One Cup first round tie against Cambridge United.

Donaldson opened his Blues account in the 16th minute: "It's good to get off the mark, especially at home as well. First competitive game here, it's good to settle your nerves."

Manager Lee Clark made seven changes to his side that went down 2-0 at Middlesbrough and Donaldson was one of those brought in: "I was obviously disappointed not to start on Saturday, as were all the other players that didn't start but we've got a good squad here and we've all had a good pre-season and you're all going to play your part sooner or later."

Donaldson believes tonight's win, Blues' first at St. Andrew's since January, may give his side added confidence heading into a home double header versus Brighton on Saturday and then Ipswich on Tuesday: "It was good to get a good win in the bag especially when you lose your first league game, this will give us a bit of confidence and belief going into the game on Saturday."
