Birmingham City skipper Paul Robinson gives his reaction after Blues were knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Premier League side Sunderland.

"I think we were solid throughout the game, as the game dragged on a few decisions didn't go our way, but it's a learning curve against a Premier League team." said the returning captain.

"We pushed them as hard as we could and I think the 3-0 scoreline flattered them." he added.

Blues dominated the first half and despite the emphatic scoreline, the performance had plenty of positives to take: "We were very positive, I think we took the game to Sunderland very well and we give them a run for their money."

"First half, we could have taken our chances but we didn't and it just wasn't to be and we move onto the game Saturday."

Robinson was one of five changes from the side that drew at Brentford: "It's nice to get a game, obviously I haven't played since Middlesbrough, so it was nice to just get back out on that football pitch and get 90 minutes under my belt."
