Blues Ladies surrendered their lead at the top of the FA Women's Super League with a 3-1 defeat at Staines Town.

After a five week fixture break due to England call-ups for the FIFA Women's U20 World Cup, David Parker's side were unable to continue their momentum as they suffered their first league defeat of the season.

After an even start to proceedings that had seen both sides go close, Chelsea opened the scoring in the 31st minute through Ji So-Yun before Gilly Flaherty stretched the lead further in the 51st minute.

Blues defender Aoife Mannion struck back in the 64th minute by forcing home a Jo Potter corner.

However former Blues striker Eniola Aluko put the game beyond doubt three minutes later with a win that saw Chelsea leapfrog their way to the summit of the FA WSL.
