A flavour of Canada will come to BCLFC this season as the girls’ Regional Talent Club (RTC) welcome their first international sponsor and receive their new shirts for the 2016/17 campaign.

Maple Products from Quebec has sponsored the BCFC girls’ RTC as part of a campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of maple syrup in sport and exercise, aimed at athletes and those interested in sports nutrition.

Serge Beaulieu, President of the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, commented on the deal: “Targeting sports consumers is the next stage of our campaign to educate the British audience on the benefits of pure Quebec maple products as a healthy sugar substitute.

“In Quebec maple is used by professional athletes of all disciplines before, during and after exercise because of its 100% natural production and abundance of antioxidants and minerals in comparison to processed sugars.

“Sponsoring the Birmingham City FC Girls' RTC teams will provide a brilliant opportunity to promote the message of maple in sport and we look forward to working with them to develop a brilliant sporting campaign.”

As part of the sponsorship Maple Products from Quebec, which represents the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers who look after the interests of over 7,300 maple businesses in Quebec, will also work with Birmingham City Ladies FC and Girls’ RTC to educate the players, families and supporters about the benefits of pure Quebec maple syrup as a healthy sugar substitute and how it can be incorporated into sport, fitness and every day cooking.

Tim Andrews, CEO of Birmingham City Ladies FC, also commented on the deal: “The financial support that Maple Products from Quebec has given the club enables us to continue to produce the next generation of England footballers, many of whom were motivated to join us following after watching the Women’s World Cup in Canada last year.

“Pure Quebec maple syrup is an unprocessed, natural sugar, so as part of the sponsorship we are also promoting healthy eating coupled with exercise amongst our players, supporters and the wider sporting community.”

Representatives from Maple Products from Quebec will take part in a half-time presentation at St. Andrew's with the girl’s RTC players on Saturday 19 November in the fixture against Bristol City FC to showcase the sponsorship and new kit.
