Blues host Crawley Town in Carabao Cup

Posted: Fri 16 Jun 2017

Blues have been handed a home tie against League Two side Crawley Town in the first round of the 2017/18 Carabao Cup.

The tie will be played at St. Andrew's in the week commencing 7 August 2017.

It will be the first competitive meeting between the clubs.

Crawley, who finished 19th in League Two last season, appointed former Leeds and Liverpool striker Harry Kewell as their new boss last month.

It is Kewell's first experience of management having spent the last two years in a coaching role at Watford.

The League Cup draw took place in Bangkok, Thailand (the home of the competition’s title sponsor, Carabao Energy Drink) this afternoon with World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit, Carabao CEO Sathien Setthasit and British Ambassador to Thailand Brian Davidson.

The draw was regionalised to minimise travelling time for supporters in the first round with seeding decided by a Club’s finishing position in the EFL.

Blues were the first ball drawn out. Here is the draw in full...
