Friday night’s npower Championship fixture at home to Middlesbrough will mark the end of a fantastic hair-raising effort that has seen the Bluemoses top the Football League for the most cash raised during Movember.
The 86-strong team of Blues fans, players and staff have already chalked up £10,000 (with Brighton & Hove Albion the nearest Football League challengers with just over £2,000 raised) and there’s still time for further donations.
To ensure they were looking sharp on the Sky Sports cameras for tomorrow night’s visit of Boro, local firm Kings Barbers Club sent along a master barber to St. Andrew’s today to tidy up the Blues Bro Mo duo of Paul Caddis and Steven Caldwell.
Movember-supporting Kings Barbers Club, who have 10 stores across the West Midlands, were also on hand to take the razor to the upper lips of several members of Blues staff. The generous folk at Kings Barbers Club also kindly bolstered the Bluemoses’ coffers with a donation of £250.
As promised, the Bluemoses have gone bigger and better in 2012. The 2011 grand total of £4,350 raised was smashed by day 9 of Movember as Blues supporters embraced the quirky initiative at a rapid rate. What’s even more impressive is that the Bluemoses are currently 26th out of 30,926 Movember teams in the UK.
Movember is a global movement that aims to change the face of men's health by encouraging the male population to grow a moustache during the month of November in order to help raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK and the Institute of Cancer Research. Prostate Cancer UK is the Football League's official charity partner for the 2012/13 season.
