Blues boss Lee Clark has recently returned from an educational trip to Barcelona, which included a behind-the-scenes look at one of the world's biggest football clubs.

Clark, first-team coach Steve Watson and development squad manager Richard Beale were granted access to La Liga giants FC Barcelona's state-of-the-art training complex.

While at La Masia, which has produced global icons such as Lionel Messi, the trio were talked through the famous Barca methodology while watching a range of training sessions and games across various age groups.

The Blues backroom staff also took in Espanyol's 1-1 with Real Madrid on Saturday night before heading back.

Reflecting on the short trip, Clark told bcfc.com: "It was an absolutely fantastic trip. We met with the technical coaching staff and they talked us through their methodology which goes right throughout the club from the younger players to the first-team.

"We were give an insight into what they expect from their players with and without the ball and we had a chance to watch sessions with a range of age groups.

"The Barcelona staff were unbelievable and couldn't have done anymore for us. They arranged seminars for us and allowed us the opportunity to see the work they do out on the training pitches.

"Obviously given the stature of a club like Barcelona, it wasn't surprising to see that their training facilities are sensational.

"It's certainly given us all a few ideas to take forward into next season and hopefully what we picked up is something that we can put into the younger players' mindset."
