Robinson recruited

Posted: Wed 05 Jun 2013

Blues have been boosted by the news that Paul Robinson has signed a new contract with the club.

The experienced defender has put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal with a further year's option.

The 34-year-old was one of Blues' standout performers last season and was named True Blue Juniors Player of the Season at last month's Player Awards 2013.

He was initially brought in by boss Lee Clark as a free agent last September on a month-to-month contract because of defensive injuries. However, his impressive showings for the team later saw his stay extended until the end of the campaign.

The former Bolton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion man was used right across the defence by Clark and he went on to make 37 appearances. He finished the 2012/13 season at centre-half, where he formed a solid partnership alongside Curtis Davies in the heart of the defence.

Robinson's signing comes just two days after youngster Akwasi Asante joined up for a further year.
