Striker Wes Thomas has joined Blues on loan until the end of the season from Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed two successful loan spells under the management of Michael Appleton this season, at Portsmouth and Blackpool respectively, and will now be looking to continue that fine form at St. Andrew’s.

The Londoner joined the promotion-chasing Cherries on a permanent basis last January having initially impressed on loan from Crawley Town.

And Blues boss Lee Clark has admitted to bcfc.com that he’s been a big admirer of his new recruit for some time.

Clark explained: “I first became aware of Wes at Bournemouth when I was Huddersfield Town manager and I’ve always rated him highly.

“He’s strong in possession, very quick, has an eye for goal and is capable of playing in a pair or as a lone frontman. He’s already done well in the Championship with Blackpool this season and he’s a young and hungry player who wants to keep on improving.

“Wes fits the bill as he’s exactly the type of player that I’ve been looking for.”

Thomas cut his teeth in the non-league game with Waltham Forest, Thurrock and Fisher Athletic before joining Dagenham & Redbridge.  Following loan spells at Grays Athletic and Rushden & Diamonds, the goal-getter joined Cheltenham Town before moving to Crawley.

Thomas joins Blues on a standard loan with no option to recall in place.
