Lee Clark has spoken of his delight at being able to secure the services of Chris Burke for a further season.
The club has taken up a one-year option on the player, meaning that the Scottish international is contracted to the club until June 2014.
"I spoke to Chris yesterday to give him the news,” said the Blues boss. “It was always my intention to keep him.
"It is brilliant in terms of the backing the board have given us, because a player of Chris’s character doesn’t come cheap. They’ve backed my judgement on that and I thank them for that.
"He is a great example of what it takes to be a top player. I admire the whole package - his attitude and application in training, how he handles disappointment when he's sometimes not in the team, how he handles it if he isn't playing at the level he would like to be at, and how he handles it when he does play well, he doesn't change. He's a senior player, an international footballer and he will be a really good example to the younger players in the group."
Clark continued: "He's a steady character and a steady personality and he will be a massive player for us next year.
"Wide men are very important to me the way they play, so with him and Nathan contracted to the club, we’ve got two very good wingers and obviously we’re hoping to add to that in the summer, whether it be loans or permanent deals."
