Reece Hales fired home the opening goal on the quarter hour mark, before Deqwon Ebanks sealed the victory with a 67th minute strike.
The result means that the Blues youngsters remain unbeaten in their last four games.
Academy coach Gareth Holmes was very happy with the way his side performed against the Rams.
“We were particularly pleased with the way the players did the horrible side of the game because at times we haven’t done that particularly well this year,” he said. “But we’ve worked hard in training and the boys have really responded.
“That’s four games unbeaten now and three without conceding so we’re really pleased with that. Hopefully it indicates that the players are taking on board what we’re talking about.
“After the game, Derby were very complimentary of the type of football we played, which is obviously nice to hear.
“Overall it was a very good team performance defensively and I was really pleased with the unity in the group and the quality of play. We could improve slightly on our passing going forward, but generally I think there is a lot to be positive about.”
