Volunteers and members from Birmingham-based charity John Taylor Hospice were treated to a day of Championship football at St. Andrew’s when Blues took on Sheffield Wednesday, thanks to the Eze Group Foundation.
Birmingham City FC’s principal partner and main shirt sponsor, Eze Group, sent the charity 20 match-day tickets to watch the action unfold and then presented representatives with a match ball signed by the Blues players.
John Taylor Hospice is an independent hospice and social enterprise providing expert palliative care for more than 600 individuals across the West Midlands every day.
Interim Head of Community Investment Marcus Cox said: “We are the oldest non-denominational hospice in the UK, and have been providing care in the heart of our city for more than a century.
“Our expert teams are committed to making sure every moment matters for our patients and their families, easing the personal and financial cost of illness and death.
“It costs us £14,000-a-day to run all our services, and hundreds of people take part in our fundraising events each year. Whether it's our family-friendly Birthday Walk, our remembrance event, Light Up a Life, or one of our many challenges, there’s lots of ways people can help.
“We had such a brilliant time at the game, and can’t thank Eze Group enough for inviting us. Although Blues didn’t win on the day, it was fantastic to be able to treat some of our patients to a day out to remember.”
CEO of EZE Group, Dominic O’Reilly added: “John Taylor Hospice were deservedly chosen to receive an EZE Wish. and we’re so glad to hear that the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all.”
EZE Wishes, an EZE Group Foundation and Birmingham City Football Club initiative, recognises and rewards people who have overcome adversity, carried out selfless community work or demonstrated outstanding commitment to supporting Blues.
