Jack Butland embarked on a pre-Christmas mission of mercy by making a very special delivery to Radio WM.

Blues' young goalkeeper called into the local BBC Radio studios in the Mailbox last week to drop off the club's donation of five signed balls for the station's Red Alert Appeal Charity Auction for Cure Leukaemia.

The big-hearted England international also offered up a pair of his own gloves and boots, both signed by the teenage shot-stopper, to be used for their ‘lightning lots’.
The donations raised £650 towards the station's total auction pot of £7,000, with a host of other prizes donated from local businesses and clubs.

"The lightning lots were snapped up within minutes and made lovely Christmas presents for faithful fans," commented Radio WM's Bernadette Shortt.
