The Blues striker initially joined Pompey last month, making three appearances and scoring one goal, before extending his stay until January 4 on Friday.
However as injuries mount in Lee Clark's squad the Blues boss has decided to recall the 21-year-old ahead of the Boxing Day trip to Barnsley.
With Marlon King (knee), Peter Lovenkrands (calf) and Akwasi Asante (hamstring) injured, Clark currently has Nikola Zigic as his only fit senior striker.
Meanwhile youngsters Reece Hales and James Fry have been handed first-team squad numbers ahead of the fixture at Oakwell with the striker and defender set to wear numbers 35 and 36 respectively.
