Wes Thomas has admitted that Lee Clark was a big reason for him opting to make a deadline day move to Blues.

The 26-year-old striker has signed on loan from Bournemouth until the end of the season and can’t wait to get underway with his new club.

Speaking to bcfc.com moments after making his move, Thomas admitted that Blues boss Clark’s faith in him as player helped convince him that St. Andrew’s was the place to be.

“This is a big club and I’m glad I’m here at Birmingham for the rest of the season,” said Thomas.

“There was interest off other clubs and this one came in at the last minute but I spoke to the gaffer and it all seemed right for me. I can’t wait to get going.

“The gaffer’s admiration for me was one of the reasons why I came here. The manager seems to like me as a player and when you’re coming to a club you want the manager to have faith in you. “

Asked what he hopes to bring to the Blues side, the Londoner added: “Energy, pace and goals!”
