COMMUNITY'S CUP BRIMMETH OVER

Blues' community department have another trophy in the cabinet after a Jazz Luckie hat-trick and Kevin Boswell strike helped them on the way to a 4-1 victory over Ebbsfleet UCommunity side clinch trophynited Youth at Walsall's Banks's Stadium.

The Football Development and Education Programme team ran out deserved winners and made it three pieces of silverware this term, having already bagged the English Colleges Football Association 5-a-side tournament title and become Midlands Conference League champions.

The team is managed by former Blues captain Kevan Broadhurst, who said: "The team have done fantastically well this season and are a credit to Birmingham City Football Club.

"They thoroughly deserve their success for all the hard work they have put in.

"The programme is unique to Blues and I think the players benefit enormously from the opportunity the course provides them."

Community side clinch trophyThe ground-breaking Football Development and Education Programme for school leavers, supported by the Premier League, is a unique full-time course that is designed to nurture local footballers who may have drifted out of the game or failed to land an Academy scholarship and give them access to recognised educational qualifications.

The scheme, which has been in operation since 2002, is going from strength to strength with many young players progressing to a higher standard of education and football.
