FACILITIES FOR DISABLED SUPPORTERS
We have a strong working relationship with the disabled supporters club and we are both fully committed for the needs of the disabled supporters. The club also follows the Health and Safety Regulations guidelines and the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) where disabled people should not be treated less favourably, and the club adheres to these procedures. Birmingham City Football Club would encourage disabled supporters to bring a personal assistant when attending matches, in the event of any emergency evacuation arising. All disabled people must follow the ground regulations and evacuation contingency plans. Ticket Information 1. Wheelchair Areas 2. Visually Impaired 3. Learning Difficulties/Hard of Hearing 4. The Birmingham City FC Disabled Supporters Club was formed in 1995 to promote the needs for the disabled supporters. The club was set-up with a total of six members. There are now over 90 members and the club is still growing. The disabled supporters come from all over the country. In April 2002 we were granted charity status ( No 1091740) for the hard work that has been put in to promote disabled needs and to help the disabled in general. During the season we hold meetings on match days. We also have Christmas parties and signed match balls that can be won by members. The Disabled Supporters Club also has a 'Player of the Season' award, which is presented to the winning player on the pitch at the penultimate home game of the season. A disabled supporter who also receives a replica of the trophy presents this to the player. Our main aim and objective is to aid the disabled. This is our biggest task to date and I am positive that we will succeed in achieving this. John Starkey
