Jeff Hall

JEFF HALL CLOCK TO BE UNVEILED ON SATURDAY

JEFF-HALL-CLOCK
The Jeff Hall Memorial Clock design as chosen by the fans
A clock chosen by supporters in memory of one of Blues' greatest ever players will get a timely unveiling at half time during Saturday's home game against Doncaster Rovers

The timepiece, which will take pride of place on the St. Andrew's Main Stand, has been commissioned by the Board of Directors of Birmingham City FC to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of Jeff Hall.

After he passed away, a clock was erected in his name at St. Andrew's but was unfortunately taken when the Kop stand was replaced.

The anniversary is an ideal opportunity to bring the clock back.

Hall's former team-mates Gil Merrick and Alex Govan have kindly agreed to unveil the clock at half time.

Jeff, a talented right-back who represented both Blues (264 appearances) and England (17 caps), died from Polio aged just 29 on 4 April 1959.

The late, great Jeff Hall
nitiatives leading into the game marking the anniversary against Wolves at St. Andrew's on 4 April 2009 will recognise what Hall achieved during his time as a Birmingham City player and how his tragic early death helped kick-start vaccination in this country.

The Doncaster game seemed an ideal occasion to unveil the new Jeff Hall memorial clock not only because it's the nearest home fixture to

Jeff's birth date of 7 September 1929 but the match also bears significance as the last time Blues played Doncaster both Hall and left-winger Govan were in the side which clinched the Championship and promotion to the old Division One, in a league fixture on 4 May 1955.

Hall was an integral part of the most successful ever Blues side that finished sixth in the First Division in 1956 and also reached the FA Cup final in the same season - the last time the club has achieved such heights in either competition.

Birmingham watch and clock maker Roy Hancocks is the man Blues have commissioned to make the clock. For more information on his work log on to www.royhancocks.co.uk

Be there to see the unveiling! Tickets are still available to buy for the game, priced from just £7 for under 12's, £10 for concessions and £18 for adults.
