PACKWOOD GETS STATES CALL

Will PackwoodYoung Blues midfielder Will Packwood has been called up by the United States for the U17 Fifa World Cup.

The tournament takes place in Nigeria beginning on October 20 and could run up until November 16, depending on how the young US team progresses.

Packwood recently took part in a ten-day training camp with the national squad at Chelsea's Cobham training ground.

He was part of the U17 side which beat their Chelsea counterparts 3-1.

The US team has been drawn into Group E in the finals alongside Spain, Malawi and the United Arab Emirates.

They are the only country to qualify for all 13 FIFA U-17 World Cups dating back to 1985.

Meanwhile another Blues teenager's talents have been recognised by his national side.

The 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Butland has been called up to the England U17 squad for their forthcoming UEFA U17 qualifiers in Azerbaijan.

The Young Lions will play the host nation as well as Kazakhstan and Serbia.

Butland has been in superb form for Blues U18s this year and his performances have helped them to win their last four consecutive games.
