Blues legend Gil Merrick sadly passed away earlier this month at the age of 88.

To commemorate Gil's tremendous service to Birmingham City, the club has produced a free desktop wallpaper to download to your PC.

The wallpaper shows Gil in three different poses, with the wording in the background 'Heroes are for Moments..Legends are Forever', which was suggested by a Blues supporter.

Goalkeeper Gil made a record 551 appearances for the club between 1939 and 1960 and was a pivotal figure during the most successful period in Birmingham City's history.

Once he hung up his playing boots in 1960 he turned his hand to management, and guided Blues to their only major cup success - a League Cup final victory against Aston Villa in 1963.
