BLUES NEWS - A SNEAK PREVIEW

Blues v Everton programmeKevin Phillips, David Murphy and Jordon Mutch all speak exclusively to Blues News in another action-packed edition of the Blues matchday programme on sale at tomorrow's home game against Everton.

Super Kev takes centre stage in the main feature interview and the experienced striker covers a plethora of subjects including Blues' FA Cup exit, goal line technology, Saturday's visit of Everton and the return to his former club Sunderland seven days later, along with his hopes for the future.

Phillips has recovered from the hamstring niggle that forced him to miss Tuesday night's victory at Portsmouth. He is hoping to get a taste of the action as Blues cross swords with Everton in the battle of eighth versus ninth.

Looking ahead to the visit of the in-form Toffees, the former Baggies forward says: "We've put in two great performances against them so far this season so we've nothing to fear. We're the home team and we'll be going all out to try and get three points."

Blues v Everton programmeMurphy made his long-awaited return to the matchday 18 in last weekend's defeat at Fratton Park. The left-back is eager for his first opportunity back in the side after a long and frustrating rehabilitation from the serious knee injury sustained at the back end of last season.

"I've been out for so long that I don't want the season to end," admits the former Hibs man. "I don't want to go on holiday - I want to keep playing!"

We also catch up with teenager Mutch, who is currently gaining crucial match experience in the Championship with Doncaster Rovers.

Blues v Everton programmeThe second youngest player ever to turn out for the Blues first team, behind Trevor Francis, 18-year-old Mutch has clocked up eight appearances for Sean O'Driscoll's side so far. The midfielder says: "I'll try and make the most of every opportunity I get on the pitch. I'll just take it week by week and then maybe come back to Blues for the last month of the season and try and get near the first team."

Saturday's programme also contains exclusive columns from boss Alex McLeish and vice president Mike Wiseman.

We talk to former Blues defender Kevin Ashley, who lived the dream back in the late 1980s by turning out for the club that he supported as a boy.

We continue our rundown of the 20 'Greatest Blues Moments' which features a certain match at Villa Park, the memories of which are certain to put a smile on your face.

Blues v Everton programmeThere's a look back on our pioneering exploits in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup plus we recall a previous game against Everton from September 1972 when the Toffees were flying high at the top of the fledgling First Division table as they prepared to take on Freddie Goodwin's young guns.

There's plenty more to read in this weekend's Blues News including lots of fans' columns and contributions, along with some great match action photos.
