Football rivalries were put to one side earlier this month when lifelong Blues fan Shaun O'Brien tied the knot to Kelly Newbold, an avid Aston Villa supporter, at St. Andrew's.

The football mad couple cemented their love for one another at a Blues Villa themed wedding on Saturday 13 June.

Since meeting three years ago at a charity football match, the couple, both from Birmingham, wanted a wedding with a difference and they certainly opted for that!

From a Blues Villa-related seating plan to football wedding favours, Shaun and Kelly had a day to remember at the home of the Blues, although the groom did not use his powers of persuasion to have the reception at St. Andrew's.

"I organised the wedding and chose everything so I thought why not have the wedding reception at a place that is close to Shaun's heart?" Kelly told bcfc.com.

"We had an amazing day and the venue was fantastic. All the guests commented on how helpful the staff were throughout the day and evening. We wanted a wedding with a difference so we took the football theme to a football venue and really ran with it."

And now being happily married, Kelly admits football is the only thing they argue about!

She continued: "We do argue about football sometimes but it's all in good nature really. Shaun is really excited about the derby matches next season now Blues are back in the Premier League."
