Blues have today signed Honduran international midfielder Wilson Palacios.

Palacios will initially join Blues on-loan from Honduran club Olimpia until the end of December, with an option to make the deal permanent until 2010 plus a two year option, should Blues decide to invoke it.

The 23-year-old was brought to the attention of Steve Bruce by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Wenger initially trialled the player at Arsenal, but despite being impressed by what he saw, decided not to go ahead with a deal because he already has eight midfield players at his disposal.

Palacios began his career with Honduran side Club Deportivo Victoria, before moving to Olimpia in 2002.

He has already represented his country more than 40 times.
