Cameron Jerome believes Blues are starting to hit their stride in the Championship.

Cameron JeromeThe 22-year-old former England under-21 striker came off the substitute's bench to score his sixth goal of the season - and second in as many games - as Alex McLeish's men stretched their unbeaten run of matches to six against Watford on Saturday.

Finding the net hasn't proved a problem during that sequence and as a result, Jerome says Blues make the long journey south to Plymouth Argyle tonight in a confident, yet cautious mood.

"Plymouth is not an easy place to go, whether you got there in the middle of summer or on a freezing cold night in the winter, but we're going into the game high on confidence," he told BLUESWORLD.

"They have established themselves as a good side in the Championship in recent years and we have to head there with the right mentality to get a result.

"But if we perform like we know we can - and have done in recent weeks - we can certainly come away from the game with something.

"We're a good group of lads here, there are no egos in the dressing room and we don't underestimate anyone in the Championship.

Cameron Jerome celebrates scoring against Watford"Having played nearly half of the season we're getting to grips with the physical demands of the division and the consistency that you need to do well.

"We're starting to score goals now too over the last month or so and that's very pleasing."

Jerome is content to continue making an impression from the bench should it help the team and understands his manager's decision to make use of his pace and power to stretch tiring defences in the second-half of games.

He added: "Whether I am playing from the start or from the bench all I can do is try to play to the best of my ability.

"It's all about trying to make an impact. I think I've done that in recent weeks and I'm delighted it's helped to put more points on the board.

"I could have scored a couple more against Watford had I not had a goal disallowed and the goalkeeper not made a great save.

"It's hard for the manager to change a winning team. We're on a bit of a roll at the moment and we have to keep working hard to make sure that continues."
