Ulises De La Cruz

Alex McLeish says that he is currently in talks with Ulises de La Cruz to see if the player is to remain at the club.

De La Cruz's initial one month contract expired yesterday.

During his time so far at St. Andrew's the Ecuadorian international has made just a solitary appearance, which came as a late substitute during the 2-0 win against Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium. 

"I'm still speaking to Ulises because he's undecided about going back to Ecuador," said McLeish.

"He still harbours ambitions of getting to the World Cup.

"I know that may be a long shot for Ecuador in terms of their position in the South American qualifying campaign.

"But the other campaign he's targeting is the Copa America.

"These are issues I'm talking to him about."
